Originally published in last year's bestselling anthology, The Telepath Chronicles, this action-packed sci-fi short finally breaks out on its own!
Venus in Red eBook Therin Knite
I first read Venus in Red when it was featured in The Telepath Chronicles. At the time I considered it to be one of the best of the bunch and even months later my opinion hasn't wavered -- the tale is top notch action storytelling at its finest.Therin Knite has a great character is Mariah, who breaks into the Grayson Dynamics headquarters with a singular goal in mind. No matter the obstacle, Mariah pushes forward even when -- especially when -- her own life is on the line. The pace of the story is frenetic and manic but that just puts the reader even more firmly into Mariah's shoes as she uses her telepathic powers to achieve her goal.
The story is worth the price and more. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and will revisit Knite's other work and The Future Chronicles for other thrilling tales.

Venus in Red eBook Therin Knite Reviews
I loved this story... It is such a fun read that when I finished it I immediately re-read the story...
I really enjoyed this short story. There is enough world building and character development to keep it interesting and the end was a bit unexpected. Highly recommended!
Starts off as an assassination story with something of a surprise twist at the end.
entertaining.
Although a short and quick read, "Venus in Red" is full of action with never a dull moment. Ms. Knite does well leaving the main character unnamed until the very last moment. I really like that. While reading "Venus in Red" I couldn't help but wonder what the MC had gone through that pushed her to that point. It all came to light and the ending wraps everything up nicely. I wouldn't mind seeing more of this character in the future.
A woman is set on vengeance against the man who runs the most powerful tech company in the world. Using her neural implants, she is determined to stop his bid for power.
The action comes fast and frequent in this short story. But it isn't your typical fight. The cybernetic enhancements are used in some fairly original ways. Very imaginative which is perfect since the main character is described as more of an intellectual being than a brawler even though there is plenty of physical action.
Venus in Red plays like the action-packed finale of a sci-fi thriller as we come in at the end of a woman’s quest to right some terrible wrongs and defeat an evil man. Author Therin Knite squeezes a good deal of worldbuilding and plot into the short’s 36 pages, making it a complete story even though we’ve skipped much of the buildup. As I mentioned, there’s a lot of action in Venus in Red and it’s executed in a cool way, as the heroine utilizes neural implants to break through her enemy’s defenses instead of the usual brute force tactics of other heroes.
Cool short story. I enjoyed it.
I originally read Therin Knite‘s Venus in Red as part of The Future Chronicles anthology, The Telepath Chronicles, and considered it to be among the best in that collection. This stand-alone piece is a fun sci-fi actioneer revolving around a corporate assassination with the telepathy aspect playing an integral part via high-tech cerebral upgrades. It’s a serious bit of entertainment, and Knite brings her usual flair to the story, as exhibited in her earlier release, Othella (which you should also buy ASAP). It's a quick, brisk read chock full of awesomeness. Highly recommended!
